Technology and Precaution are your companions!

Apps, Maps, Alerts and Notifications!

Links, Routes, know how and user friendly technology is widely available now to stay aware, informed and alert.
Use your mobile phone smartly.
Situations like - when you are alone in new place, when you are alone in a lonely place, when you are being stalked, harrased, threatened, warned, etc..
Dont let it go. Keep your friends and family informed.
Let the law makers know - File a complaint and be informed. Keep all the copies and documents, proofs, etc..
Don't share your mobile number, email address, home address, with anyone and everyone.

Don't stand out in a crowd

·         If you're not sure where you're going, walk like you've got a purpose.
·         Plan your trip & review travel routes before.
·         Match your dress style to that of the locals.
·         Keep your travel plans & accommodation details, to yourself.
·         Keep Family n friends in contact & keep them updated about your status.

Transport safety

  • Ignore the attention as best you can.
  • Never hitchhike.
  • Avoid incidents such as fights, riots or civil disturbances at all times.
·         Don't socialize with strangers & Sharing of taxi.
·         Keep a photocopy of your passport and all other important documents in a safe place.
·         Carry a pepper spray, etc.. with you.

Hotel safety

  • Use first initial instead of your first name when signing in.
  • Never, ever blindly answer a knock at your door.
·         Leave the "do not disturb" sign on, when away from your room.
·         Ask your hotel manager for advice on 'safe' versus 'unsafe' local areas
  • Make sure you know what official taxi cabs look like.
  • Take note of emergency exits, stairwells, fire escapes and emergency plans.

Beware of scams when travelling

  • Posing as a police officer and asking to check your money for counterfeit bills.
  • Posing as a tour guide and offering to show you the sights of the city.
  • Slipping sedative drugs into your food or drink
·         Don't count your money or expose documents in public

·         Have handy emergency phone numbers in the country you're visiting.
